1. The King and poet Alfonso X wrote in the Alcázar of Seville his "Cántigas"

Alfonso X, known as "The Wise," resided in the Alcázar during his time in Seville. He supervised the creation of the *Cantigas de Santa María*, a collection of 420 musical compositions dedicated to the Virgin Mary. These works, written in medieval Galician, are among the most significant examples of monophonic medieval literature. It is said they were composed within the Gothic Palace of the Alcázar, making it a hub of medieval intellectual activity.

2. The Spanish King Pedro I murdered his brother in the Royal Alcázar of Seville.

Pedro I of Castile, known as "The Cruel," carried out one of history's most infamous acts within the Alcázar. In the Sala de los Azulejos, he murdered his stepbrother Fadrique while seeking royal pardon. Legends recount how the marble floor absorbed the bloodstain, leaving an eternal mark. This dramatic tale is just one of the many reasons to explore the Alcázar on a guided tour.

In 1478, the Catholic Monarchs welcomed their heir, Juan de Aragón, in the Prince’s Room of the Alcázar. Though destined to rule, Juan tragically died at 19, leaving behind a legacy steeped in intrigue and drama.
